Statement from Legislator Rachel Barnhart:
I spent the final hours of the campaign putting post-it notes on the doors of all the voters we met over the last few months. It was a long couple days, as we had hundreds of houses to visit. I put in 30,000 steps by 11 a.m. yesterday morning!
Voters rewarded my hard work on the campaign trail – and in office the last four years – with a resounding victory. They chose to support experience, compassion, and commonsense progressive policy. Importantly, they embraced my independence, willingness to challenge the status quo and speak up when things are not okay.
Thank you to each and every person who took time to speak with me and my campaign. Thank you to everyone who cast a ballot. Thank you to my volunteers. (If you got a phone call, my mom was likely on the other end of the line!)
I’m honored to have earned the support of voters in Rochester and Irondequoit, and I look forward to continuing to serve the only way I know how—guided by what is right and in the best interest of our community.
